18 Months In: What I Know About Family Travel Now

When I started helping families plan trips, I second-guessed everything. Was this the right hotel? The best itinerary? The perfect activity for kids that wouldn’t bore grandparents?

18 Months In: The Biggest Lesson I’ve Learned as a Family Travel Designer

But in just 18 months of designing trips for clients—and years of planning my own family’s adventures before that—the biggest lesson I’ve learned is simple:
👉 Trust your expertise.

Before I launched my business, I had already spent years mapping out trips for my own family: navigating nap schedules in airports, squeezing value out of points, finding hotels that worked for grandparents and toddlers alike. When I began working with clients, I realized I already had the tools and instincts I needed. I just had to trust them.

In the beginning, I sometimes let client hesitation or over-Googling shake my confidence. I’d over-explain my recommendations or second-guess an itinerary I knew worked. Now, I show up differently. I listen deeply, I care like it’s my own family (because that’s how I plan), and then I confidently lead.

And the most meaningful feedback I receive isn’t about prices or logistics—it’s when a client returns and says:

“That was exactly the trip we were hoping for.”

That’s when I know I’ve done my job.

Trusting my expertise has changed everything—not just for my business, but for my clients. It allows me to create experiences with heart and precision, without getting lost in second-guessing. And the best part? It leads to trips families will talk about for years to come.

If you’re ready to stop getting lost in research mode and start planning your family’s dream trip with confidence, start with my free Pick It, Plan It, Pay for It Masterclass. It’s the first step from “someday” to “booked.”
