Pop quiz, what part of the United States is closest to the Equator? In what state can you eat SPAM at a 4-star restaurant? Okay, last one, in what state can you often seen random chickens wandering the roads and the parks? Even if you didn’t know the answer, just the questions bring a smile to your face. And that is the essence of why bringing kids to Hawaii is such a rewarding experience.

I cannot think of a more welcoming and fun place in the United States than Hawaii. A lot of mainlanders might roll their eyes at the “Aloha Spirit” but even the most jaded of us have to admit that something just feels different about Hawaii. Nothing in the contiguous 48 matches what this last little gem provides. And, speaking as a father, one of the first things you want to do is make sure your family is safe. Although there may be a bit of the issues that other states have (costs, houselessness, litter, etc.) Hawaii never feels like it’s actively antagonizing you. You and your family can feel safe.
And from that base of safety, you can let your kids explore. Nature abounds on both the land and sea. Adventures and play are around every palm tree. New foods are everywhere and your little ones can try so many new things. There are not a lot of guarantees in life, but when it comes to being sure you and your kids will have a good time, Hawaii is about as close as you can come to it. And that is why we love to take our kids to the Aloha State any time we can.
