Ultimate Disneyland Packing List for Moms: What to Bring & What to Skip

Let’s just be honest- it’s no easy task to take your kids to Disneyland. I’ve been to Disneyland more times than I’d like to admit, but it’s a whole new challenge when you’ve got young ones in tow. Gone are the days when I’d arrive at the park’s opening and stay until closing with just a few granola bars and a sweatshirt along. It’s crucial to your whole family’s enjoyment to have all the essentials with you.

After a couple trips with the kids now under our belts, we have lots of opinions about what to bring and what NOT to bring. With some strategic planning and packing you can have all the things you need without feeling like you’re taking along everything you brought with you.

Keep reading and you’ll find a list that covers the essentials, the options and what to leave at home!

Essentials for Every Disneyland Trip

 Park Bag Must Haves

  •  Small backpack or cross body bag for easy access. We like backpacks because they leave our hands free.
  • Wallet, ID, park tickets, and MagicBands if you use them.
  • Phone and a portable charger

 For the Kids

  • Change of clothes and extra underwear!
  • Lightweight stroller (Disney does have limitations on strollers, so be sure yours is allowed!)
  • Snacks (Yes, you can bring in outside food!!!)
  • Refillable water bottles

 Weather Protection

  • Sunscreen
  • Hats
  • Sweatshirts or jackets (it does get chilly in the evening)
  • Ponchos

Smart Extras that Just Make it Easier

Small kit with pain relief, stomach aids, Band-Aids, etc.

  • Hand sanitizer and lots of wipes!
  • Autograph book and marker for character meet & greets

 Entertainment for Long Lines

  • LCD drawing pads
  • Small, pocket sized fidgets or toys
  • Small candy suckers (like DumDums), they’re the best distraction!
  • Download a show or game on your phone in case of a REALLY long line!

What to Skip & Why

Try not to bring everything! You can always go back to your hotel if needed, so just try to carry what you’ll use for that one day in the parks. Be ready to repack for the next day. Remember that selfie sticks and large tripods are banned from the parks as well as adult costumes.

With some good planning and thinking through a few likely scenarios, you’ll have a great start to enjoy your trip to Disneyland with your kids. There’s nothing like enjoying the Happiest Place on Earth together as a family.
